Noise Gate pedals

Re: Noise Gate pedals

I just use the digital effect that comes with boss me-25. Generally i think one should not need one, unless he uses true single coil pups or plays with insane level of distortion which is unrealistic. However some humbuckers still hum, like the EMG81, under heavy EMI conditions of course. Others (Duncans, Dimarzio) seem more immune.

Re: Noise Gate pedals

I use the MXR and only switch it on when needed.

Of the ones I tried , I liked it the best.

Re: Noise Gate pedals

Depends on the specific situation perhaps, but broadly speaking, they're better suited to multi effects units I'd say.

Re: Noise Gate pedals

Better to have a good one and not need it then to not have one. ISP Decimator or Gstring if you need a really good one. Don't overthink your chain

Re: Noise Gate pedals

I highly recommend the ISP Decimator 2. As far as I can tell, my tone is the same with it on, only no background static.

Re: Noise Gate pedals

Another ISP decimator fan here, that thing shuts the hiss up!! Zero affect on tone. Love it.
