depends on what exactly you want. If you just want transparent gateing get a rocktron hush pedal(but one of the older made in USA two channel version, the new ones suck). if you want kind the kind of start/stop sound going on you should get a boss ns-2. Both won't suck your tone, but they are different.
Can't comment on the ISP decimator.

I also love the boss ns-2. It can be a sublte noise gate when needed. There are a few knobs you tailor what you need.

The NS-2 definitely sucks tone, although much less than most of the others. I bought one a second time around and the feel of the notes changed in my rig. It got sold soon after.
The only purely transparent noise suppressor out there is the ISP Decimator. It is the only one that keeps those dynamics fully in place.

I use a Boss ME-50, but it's got a Boss NS-1 on it, sort of. Anyways, it works nice for me. It reduces noise in contour with the envelope of string decay.

I hate them all....never had a single suppressor or gate that sounded like it was not trying to muck the signal up.

The best ones I've tried are the Boss NS-2 and the ISP Decimator. But overall, I don't use noise suppressors/gates very often. I have the old Boss NF-1 Noise Gate, which I bought for the sake of novelty. It's old and made in Japan; it does the noise suppression thing effectively, but I can dail in weird choppy sounds also.

Try an ISP decimator right after the guitar and before any stompboxes.
I run it like that and it's a pretty damn silent rig. I can't tell the difference in tone with it on off/in chain out of chain. It does seem to make the mids a tad more present when it's on but it's VERY subtle.
Doesn't affect sustain either...
I love mine, best $$ I've spent on boxes.

Trust me...I do not like them, I had a freakin' übergenius at my disposal once at work, we went through some designs....I hated them all
I do not mind alot of things...but noisegates and suppressors...yuck!
I rather have my noise.....hehe

the decimator is the ferarri of the noise suppressor/gate world. apparently folks over at tgp raved about it being the most non-tonesucking noise suppressor there ever was.
i am considering a single-ended pedal running in line after my high gain pedals or after a p-90 equipped guitar. of course it must be able to eliminate hum/hiss etc without affect tone too much. it will be nice if the pedal facilitates the tightness required in stop/start riffage. imho, no noise suppressors/gates is going to NOT alter your tone.
i almost bought a ns-2 off kac but realized the send/return loop is not gonna work with my setup. so that aside, i am left with the rocktron hush, mxr smartgate and isp decimator. heck, i am even considering the cheap-a$$ behringer pedal to muck around with.
