Noiseless Quarter Pounder

What sounds like a Quarter Pounder in the noiseless realm for the neck and middle of my strat. The bridge is a Custom humbucker. I currently have Cool Rails in there and they are not doing it for me. I heard my friend's strat with QPs while I wasn't crazy about the bridge tone, the neck and middle is the sound I am looking for.

Any ideas?

Re: Noiseless Quarter Pounder

you're gonna struggle getting a true (like, designed to be noiseless) pickup to sound like a quarter pounder dude-

sheilding the cavity (copper foil's one of the more popular ways) will cut down hum, as will positioning yourself right when you play (staying away from CRT computer monitors, and standing away from the transformers in your amp if possible)...

if it's the sound you're looking for, don't try and compromise - you'll only end up getting them anyway later lol

Re: Noiseless Quarter Pounder

Yes, with proper shielding you can get them fairly quiet. However, they are high output singles so they'll be prone to hum. There's no noiseless pickup I've used that really even close to the sound of the QP.

Thanks guys. This is what I kind of thought I was up against. I think I'll get a couple and give them a try.

Re: Noiseless Quarter Pounder

they make a custom shop qp stack and they are great but expensive and honestly i think the normal version sounds a touch better. shield the guitar very well and see if you can deal with the noise
