Noisy partscaster?

The strat build I'm working on is super noisy. I plugged it in to test the pickup (I have everything except the bridge and tuners). Whenever I turn the volume down it gets even louder and starts to buzz. My one volume pot is 500k, pickup is an Invader. Do I need shielding inside the cavity or something? I even tried touching the ground wire to various metal objects (as I don't have the trem yet) and nothing changed. Any insight? Thanks :headbang:

Do you have it grounded to the tremolo claw?

Indeed I do not, but I did touch the wire to various metal objects to test as I do not have the trem yet.

You don't have any lamps on? String it all up and ground it to the claw and then report back.

Well, it has 1 pickup and 1 pot, so it's pretty neat. I'll take it apart and post a pic tomorrow :headbang: :wizard:
