Nostalgia Clip

OK, I never posted a real personal clip, so here's one. I'm totally freaked out by posting this so be honnest, but be kind... this thing has very deep roots inside of me, so much I can hardly explain.

Part of it was written when I was 17. Strangely, I never recorded it, but I always remembered it. I revisited it last year (at 36, a pretty big gap), added a bass line which gives it a different color (the sound of the bass is not very good since it's my guitar with more bass and less treble).

I waited until I had better recording gear before posting it. It's a simple Em instrumental clip a little far from my ususal rock style, although I like this type of lead.

For the theory lovers: the harmony of the last segment is a Perfect 4th harmony followed by a 3rd harmony. I thought the Perfect 4th sounded to dissonant near the end so I switched to 3rd harmony... is this legal? I don't even know... I normally told myself that if it's sound good, it's legal :)

OK, here it is:

Re: Nostalgia Clip

sounds nice

i like the chord progression and the lead tone :)

if you hadn't said that about the bass i probably wouldnt have noticed because it fits in well

Re: Nostalgia Clip

It's beautiful. What else can i say? Perfectly executed, lovely to listen to. Would make a great album track or film score.

You guys are gonna have to stop raising the bar.

Re: Nostalgia Clip

Thanks a lot guys... It's beyond my expectations :). I'm actually so involved in this song that I can hardly be objective anymore. But I like it a lot...

Strangely, even if I'm definitely more attracted to rock, I wouldn't mind doing a whole album of stuff like that. I have other unfinished pieces. This encourages me to go on.

I'm also very satisfied of the tone, which is all analog except the hint of delay I added to the lead with Cool Edit Pro. The clean rhythm is the middle position of my new Ibanez (which is the slug pole of each pup instead of both humbuckers like a LP) with Boss Super Chorus, an analog chrous I like because it's not over-the-top like digital chorus.

Re: Nostalgia Clip

If you guys keep playing like this, Ill never feel good enough to submit some of my playing :) hehe
Awesome work man, I really like the tone aswell.

Re: Nostalgia Clip

Thanks Panzer...

And the best way to improve is to post... there's outstanding players in here that can help you a lot.

I'll always remember what Zakk Wylde said one day: "Guitar players is a brotherhood, and I'm just one of them".
