Not gonna make this fancy.. Floyd Q!

Alright, so I got a floating Floyd on my axe (pictures will be up tonight, for sure). It's a Schaller, and it kicks ass. Never goes out of tune, super stable, blah blah.

Anyways, whenever I wiggle the bar, it seems to have a slight almost 'jerk' to it. Like when you pull up on the bar, it kind of jolts one way, then when you push down on it, it jolts the other way. Kind of like it has 2 positions.

Now, I really REALLY hate this, it's terribly annoying. I usually don't have the bar tightened all the way down, I've got it loosened off so it kind of just spins around freely.

Please, is there any way to fix this without having to almost do a complete restring? Or is it just a normal feature that I'm gonna have to live with?

Thanks in advance.

If the jolt is extreme i wonder if your Floyds posts are secure?

I could possibly post a video of the jolt, if I can find a place to upload videos.

Not 100% sure what you mean...is it kind of like the bar itself has 2 positions that it likes to "lock" into in it´s rotation?

If that´s the case, the washer in the collar may be bent... a new bar for 15 bucks will solve that ;)

After closer inspection, it appears as if it has nothing to with the posts. The.. thing.. that the bar goes into likes to shift back and forth.

There´s an allen bolt on the back of the collar (in the trem cavity)... tightening that should solve your problem.... sounds like the collar is just loose, annd they´re generally a pretty snug fit.

Unless of course that bolt is broken.... then goto post 4, line 2 :D

Ah.... a simple fix..... In the past i have had problems with some Floyd posts on a few different guitars.... all were floyd copies mind you but they rocked in the wind and when i hear someone say floyd is giving me trouble i automatical think the posts!

That screw for the trem bar should be the same allen wrench you use on the lock nut....
