not my g-major

well my g-major is hosed. Got to the band room tonight. i sat down. All of a sudden all i hear is thunder. then about the loudest noise i've ever heard as lightning shot through the room. hitting and burning a spot in the wood about 2 feet from where i was sitting. power went out in the room. equipment wasn't on but i had a bad feeling. gfi was tripped, when i went to reset it something wasn't right. Went and reset the actual breaker. loud buzzing from the gfi. had everything unplugged at the time so that is shot. went to another room with the equipment and tried it all.

First thing i turned on was my g major. background light turned on but none of the buttons work or the actual lcd lights weren't coming on. i don't see anything wrong with the g major as far as burns on the circuit board or anything like that. the fuse wasn't blown. My fcb seems alright. My Krankenstien also seemed fine. the bassists amp was also on my power strip and that is making some horrid noises.everybody elses stuff seems fine.

any ideas about the g major? i'm guessing one of the boards is shot. The biggest problem is not that it died but i have 4 shows this week and i use my g major alot. leads different effects and the noise gate. If i can't get it working tomorrow i'm going to have to go looking for one and spend the night reseting everything. bah crappy day.

Re: not my g-major

FWIW, TC's customer service is TOP NOTCH! They repaired a broken pot on a G-Major I bought used and then sold... shipped it to them, they fixed it, and shipped it to the guy I sold it to, only charged me shipping to them!

Re: not my g-major

Call TC's Customer Service and get a return authorization number or referral to a local authorized service center. I'd recommend NOT telling them the story about the electricity though, in case it voids the warrantee.

I know it's not in 'Ethics 101' but Guitar Center has a 30 day return policy, so you can always take advantage of their free rental service! LOL

Look through the manual and see if there is a factory restore sequence. You may have only scrambled the software and it might have an internal backup that you can reload.

Its like you said you probably cooked a board or the main processor but it's worth a try.
