As a super strat guy that keeps a LP around just for that option I found this at a local pawn shop. I do keep an eye out for LP style guitars and this was a huge surprise. '77 Guild M-75SC NB, it's a player. Dings and scratches here and there. The lacquer has been completely worn of the back of the neck and is smooth as butter. Frets are a bit worn but it plays super nice. Has a very dark tone and surprisingly very death metalish.

Great minds think alike. Last weekend, I nabbed a 1987 X-170 hollow body. :)

What do the mini toggle switch and small black control knob do?

That's a phase switch and master volume for the volumes. LOL When playing distortion the master volume doesn't do much but really shines when playing clean or light distortion.

Very nice! I often forget about Guilds as they seem to fly way under the radar. But Id LOVE to have an old Flying Star like Mick Mars had on the back of the Too Fast album and a Bluesbird

That guitar is right up my alley. I bet it just screams tone. I'm glad you found it a good home.

Nice find. I own a 90's Dearmond version of that guitar, which has the same US pickups.

I compared the pickups to many of my other humbuckers, and the Guild/Dearmonds had the sweetest clean tone of all of them. The funny thing is that people try to sell those pickups for almost the price of the guitar they came in. You may as well just buy the guitar.

Guild makes some really great guitars and yours and Funkfinger's X-170 are two of the better ones I've seen. Great choices!

Nice find. I'd still like to land on a Guild S-300 at some point. I've never played one, they just look cool.
