Not sure what to do with my Mesa 50 cal+ combo

Snoogles

Cranky-dologist
i paid about $600 for it in 05
it started having some problems around 08
spent another $400+ taking it to various places, paying bench fees, and getting ripped off by people who told me either they didn't know what was wrong with it, there was nothing wrong with it, they knew what was wrong then fixed it when in fact they didn't do jack-$#!+.
3 out of 4 of them were authorized Mesa service centers
until i found a guy in new mexico who specialized in this amp who did in fact fix it.
then it sat for 2+ years in my closet with the "thin-walled apartment, with neighbors with newborn baby" syndrome
so a little while ago i dragged it out of solitary confinement, fired it up just to see what it sounded like.
lo and behold, there are more problems with this amp

now i don't know what to do with it. i'm tired of spending money to get an amp fixed that i cant even turn up loud enough for it to sound the way its supposed to sound
i would feel like a rip-off artist if i put it up on "the auction site" for what ever the going rate is for these amps.
i don't even have any kind of amp tech near by, much less someone who could properly diagnose this amp.
so i'd have to ship the chassis off to someone qualified, and HONEST enough to know what's going on, and how much it will cost to fix.

what to do... what to do

I'm sorry about your amp problem. My friend was in a similar situation with a Mark IIB. And I know you may not like the sound of this, but he gave it to a friend. That was me. I payed for new tubes, a reverb pan, and cleaned it up. I didn't have any amp at the time. I payed him back by buying lunch and gas and all kinds of things for the next 5 years until he said it was payed off. I then past the amp on to another friend in a similar manner. It worked out for all of us. The deal is, if my friend ever needs to part with it, it comes back to me or the original owner in the same way. And we always take great care of the amp. That's just one suggestion.

As-is auction with low starting bid. Let it be someone else's headache.
