Now This Is A Schenker Clip

Let it B
PRIME

After that last thread/vid where he got OWNED by Uli:laugh2:

This why he got the "Schenker is God" treatment in the 70s/early 80s like Clapton did back in the 60s

Re: Now This Is A Schenker Clip

Cool. Thanks for it. :)

What is that from?

Not to sound like a broken record, but everyone should check out that UFO DVD.

clip is from a MSG concert circa 1984....thats the "Rock Will Never Die" band lineup..right before he starting getting REALLY whacky :laugh2:

Re: Now This Is A Schenker Clip

Man, his playing is just sick. Sick I tell you...LOL. :D Good stuff. Thanks for sharing, bro.

Thanks...FWIW, I just bought the UFO one at Newbury Comics (they have some in CT, I think).

Is that MSG vid one that you can buy in a store, or is it an ebay thing?

Re: Now This Is A Schenker Clip

Thanks ! It's refreshing to see Michael at the top of his game.:D I hope for his sake He gets his life in order. :smokin:

Re: Now This Is A Schenker Clip

more MSG!!!!!!!
the way he plays that guitar makes me want one, even though i will never be bold enough to play a pointy guitbox :22:

Re: Now This Is A Schenker Clip

Yeah that vid is just incredible...that ascending run up the neck before Chris Glenn's bass spot....wow

After watching this, I'm thinking this very well may be the show that was recorded for the "Rock Will Never Die" live album (Built to Destroy tour) I don't have it anymore though so I cannot be positive..plus no Derek St. Holmes on Rythm guitar...I cannot recall if on RWND he was playing on Into The Arena or not. Ted McKenna on drums, and Tommy Eyre on keyboards so it's definitely late 1982 or afterwards. And the pic of the band at the beginning shows Gary Barden singing...so sometime after Assault Attack was released and RWND was recorded. (82-84)

You british guys know if that looks like Hammersmith? cos thats where RWND was recorded.

There supposedly *is* a DVD/Video of that concert..at least in Europe.

Re: Now This Is A Schenker Clip

Mike is on in that clip!

I have the MSG Live in Tokyo 1997 DVD and it is pretty good. 30 songs PLUS 10 more bootleg tunes from 2000 in Tokyo!

Re: Now This Is A Schenker Clip

does look a bit like the hammersmith odeon.. at least the stage setup is the same.. same light placement, drum riser

if you check out the Number of the Beast video, you will see the similarities

I have that as well...I was rather disappointed with it, personally...He's *really* off .... struggling/missing alot of notes/seems to forget how to use his wah, etc... on the concert in tokyo...but the bootleg part he's pretty much "on". Much better, too bad the quality is horrid on it :( But he does have a few good moments on the Tokyo concert for sure. I like his Chippendal Lead singer too :D..for the whole concert he pretty much does this ------>

Michael doesn't move around much at all on stage...but the less he moves and the lower to the ground he crouches the worse he's playing :laugh2: The UFO DVD Falstaff mentioned footage is a perfect example...he's ON in those old clips and he's damn near standing all the way up :D or maybe it's the 6 inch heel, thigh high boots he's wearing :D

Thanks Davey...now that you mention it..it kinda does look similar.

Re: Now This Is A Schenker Clip

That's so badass!! I haven't heard that song in awhile. I have that album laying around somewhere.

Re: Now This Is A Schenker Clip

Yep, that's why Schenker was considered a god.

Now if someone can find some footage of "Captain Nemo".

Re: Now This Is A Schenker Clip

Jeff, we know you linked us to that clip because of the Hamer bass!! :)

Seriously, early 80s MSG was some of the best guitar music to come out of the 80s. Right before Yngwie took over and everything got blown into a thou-is-faster-than-thee contest.

The keys are WAAAY to loud, tho.

Re: Now This Is A Schenker Clip

hah no Hamer bass! That was some custom job Chris had made back in the SAHB days.

Re: Now This Is A Schenker Clip

is this mika? i never was to knowledgeable about ufo's lineup(s):22:

Re: Now This Is A Schenker Clip

Yeah, that's him. That vid is on the DVD I mentioned.

Re: Now This Is A Schenker Clip

ok, good. i couldnt tell, the guitar, the stance and the fingering shouldve been a giveaway..
