NPD EHX Soul Food

So I did a Craigslist deal with a guy about a month ago and he raved about the EHX Soul Food pedal. I got one on CL for $40 and absolutely love it. I've heard people say that it does not color the tone, I would say that is not entirely true. However, it can provide a decent boost with minimal effect on the tone. I'm running it through an upgraded/modded Fender Hot Rod Deluxe and used to it boost the modded gain channel as well as my Rat 2 pedal set with more of a light crunch sound.

Anyone else use this pedal–love/hate?

Re: NPD EHX Soul Food

I love mine. I use it to push a slightly broken up amp into overdrive most of the time. Or as a boost before other dirt pedals. If I had a 2 channel amp, I'd use it in front of the dirt channel as well. It's an incredibly versatile pedal.

I think I'm going to either get a JHS modded one, or have them mod mine, at some point this year.

I have a 2 channel amp and love it thru both–great pedal!

And I was looking at the JHS mod or the Alchemy Audio...the Alchemy Audio is suppose to make it as close to the Klon Centaur (Germanium Diodes added.) However, I really like how the JHS mods allow you to get the stock tone in addition to the Klon Centaur's clipping and some other cool controls. Heavily leaning towards the JHS Meat & 3 Mod followed by their Shamrock Mod.
