NPD - Fulltone Fulldrive 2 Mosfet

Pure awesomeness in a box :D It is so versatile! It sounds sweet and bluesy through the clean channel and really brings the best out of my Les Paul. It's fatter and warmer than any Tubescreamer I've ever tried while retaining that mid frequency emphasis (on the vintage setting). It's also very good to push an already distorted channel even further. Since it doesn't suck the bass, it might be not as "tight" as the TS 808 but the difference is very small. You can make it sound very similar to a Tubesreamer but it will always have more warmth, punch and body. Great pedal!

How many of you guys use it and for what purposes?

Re: NPD - Fulltone Fulldrive 2 Mosfet

the fulldrive is one of my favorite od pedals glad to see you are liking it. as for uses it's extremely versatile you I've used it for anything from a clean boost to full on drive. I don't typically play particularly hard stuff so it pretty much has all the gain available I need.

Sometimes I'll set it for a nice chunky rhythm tone and engage the boost for leads.

I've been curious about that one since I tried the GT-500. Curious to see what flavor it offers.

I use mine all the time. Its the pedal id take to a desert island.
It does everything a tubescreamer can do - only better, plus it can do way more than a tubescreamer. The mosfet option is a godsend.
Its the swiss army knife of overdrives into any amp and guitar combination because you have the various eq/clipping options, but i do pair it with a GT when im using my twin so i can cover a heap of sounds. The gt is not necssary thru a dirty amp tho.

Congratulations. Great pedal. I've got one too. If you get the chance to try a BB Preamp Custom Shop, you will probably like it as much.

Re: NPD - Fulltone Fulldrive 2 Mosfet

I used to live a block from Mike Fuller's house, the first location. When they first came out, I got one of the early orange ones, and stupidly sold it. I still wonder if it wasn't the best sounding one I've owned. I also had a blue and cream one.....so 3 in total.

Fulltone was one of the first boutique companies to come out in the early 90's, and when we all saw the FDII, it was obvious that it was the Swiss Army Knife Tube Screamer. Now, years after it's introduction, it's still got that title. There's now a lot of TS type OD's, but the FDII remains at the top of heap.

I have one and I love it. Mine is non-mosfet though. I A/B'ed it with the mosfet. And felt that I preferred the non-mosfet. It had a different sparkle to it.

It is absolutely the pedal I could not live without.

Gibson175 highly recommends the Gt500 and that interests me. If it is the perfect higher gain pairing I will one day add one to my board.

Re: NPD - Fulltone Fulldrive 2 Mosfet

I used to have a non-mosfet one and it got stolen so I picked up a mosfet based one and while different to the one I had originally, it's still (to my ears) the single best overdrive box I've heard and mine is almost never turned off. I use it to get a slight edge on my Super Reverb and use the boost when I need to push it a bit harder. If I could only have one dirt box, that would be it.
