Finally dipped my toe into the wonderful world of Mooer Micro Series pedals. Unsurprisingly, I have gone for the sickest one in the catalogue.

The LoFi Machine is, essentially, a Bit Reduction device but the audio artefacts that it generates have a strong whiff of Ring Modulation. Randomness abounds. Combined with a filthy distortion pedal, the LFM produces weird noises reminiscent of the DOD Buzz Box.

My example was pre-owned. I am not sure that I would have wanted to pay full MSRP for the thing. The temptation to collect more Mooers is strong. Must resist!

Re: NPD: Mooer LoFi Machine

Cool! (How would it sound on a drum machine, for nasty sounds?)

Kind of want to build an all micro pedal board with Xotics, Mooers, TC Electronic, Red Witch and Malekko.

Re: NPD: Mooer LoFi Machine

Drum machines and arpeggiated synth riffs are right up the LFM's street.

One obvious disadvantage is that the pedal is mono. The solution is to run the pedal fully "wet" and connect it via a mixer buss. The blend of monaural weirdness and stereophonic untreated source instrument should be both interesting and listenable.

Re: NPD: Mooer LoFi Machine

I wanted the Harmonist/Pitch shifter Mooer knock-off until I realized you can't adjust the mix.
I've got a Blue Faze pedal and it's excellent. Love it in front of my Jackhammer to fatten up single coil leads.

Re: NPD: Mooer LoFi Machine

Rats, I was hoping it was more of an izotrope vinyl plugin in a pedal.

Boom. Great idea.

Re: NPD: Mooer LoFi Machine

I have one of these. They're rad! I use it to get some squelchy industrial sounds which you can hear at 1:48 in this song. Sounds good with clean guitar, synths, bass even vocals and just about anything you can think of.

This is from the day I unboxed it.
