NPD - Nigel Touch Overdrive

Securb

One of Jerry's Kids
Just started playing around with this thing and I am blown away. It sounds glorious through a clean amp. With an amp pushed, it pushes it over the top. As advertised the touch sensitivity is amazing. There are 3 FET gain stages in this puppy and you can hear and feel it. I am going to take it to rehearsal tonight to give it a real workout.

My Peavey Classic 20 head. This pedal was screaming with my JC 120 tonight. I think it will take you from a gentle break up to around AC/DC or Aerosmith pushing the limits, not the brutz but it is fantastic for what it does.

This one has a lot of Plexi characteristics. I had a ball with it tonight at practice. I used it for Little Wing, Strut, and For Your Love, it delivered every time.

Three-stage drives are noticeably more amplike in their touch response.
The Blackstone is another wonderful pedal in that category.

the EHX Allied Overdrive too! :)

three transistor stages, + a mosfet "boost" stage. \m/

I love mine. Would like to have two; one for each amp :oo

Does it go to 11?

Nope. It is not a "metal" overdrive. I will say the range is classic rock to hard rock out of the box. What it does it does incredibly well, the touch sensitivity is fantastic. I am going to play around with it and the Marshall today. I want to see how it pushes an 100 watter that is already pushed to its limits. I have been using it as a traditional dirt stomp. Now I wasn't to see how it performs as a boost.

I was so off on this pedal. I started working on the review this week and played with it in different scenarios. Originally, I used it as a traditional stomp to add gain to an otherwise clean amp. Last night I rolled the drive back and used it to push an amp that was already giving me some great tube overdrive Somewhat like a boost. It pushed my JCM 2000 into the brutal realm and all of the characteristics of the Nigel, especially the touch sensitivity came shining through. Gonna play with it more today, so far this pedal has not stopped surprising me.
