Well, The mailman brought my shipment from Pyremaxe today, and in it:
a Xotic SL drive & Tremonti Wah
Morley Tremonti Wah:
My initial thoughts on the wah were that it's made by a reputable company, in the USA, with a unique optical design, and it sounds good enough for Mark Tremonti to use all over tours, and in the studio AFAIK, so it's a solid wah. And I play with similar tones as Tremonti so the wah should sound good with my gear. I like the sweep and the extended lows and highs, how it sounds on Alter Bridge recordings... My one fear was that the buffer circuit wouldn't sound good, but once again, I had faith in a product based on Tremonti using it all over everything he does. I know some of you may not like his tone, but several other guitarists use the Morley wahs with this buffer circuit, so I had some faith in it, AND I LIKED THE PRICE lol. None of those $250 RMC or Fulltone wahs need apply. I also didn't like the extra wah boost feature, as I kind of wanted a wah that was just good at being a killer wah. The boost is actually a really nice one, and helps balance out the slight volume drop when the wah is engaged. Something I will be doing in the future is ABing the signal with the wah off, but in the chain, and with it out of the chain.
SL Drive:
I saw a video of the SL drive on my Facebook feed one day, and shook it off. The last thing I needed is another dirt pedal. But, For $125, this thing is exceptionally well crafted. It looks awesome with the black and gold face plate with clear knobs and a nice little, soft-touch, metal footswitch, and all the way down to the perfectly fitting case-bottom to the Stainless Steel case screws, this pedal is the most perfectly built pedal I have ever owned, not that there's anything wrong with my Fulltones or Catalinbreads (the Echorec actually had a problem, so it's back at the mothership for repairs). This pedal is modeled after the Vintage Super Lead and Super Bass Marshalls. What kind of bastardly coward would deny a vintage Marshall such as these?? Well, it would be nice to have a real one, but this pedal does the best job at coming close to one as I've ever heard, or at least makes lovely noise. The low-gain, organic quality is equally as tasty as it's outwardly appearances. And this will replace my OCD. This is what I wanted the OCD to be all along... but sadly the OCD never did fire up my cylinders. This pedal just makes you wanna play! Who could ask for more than that!?
