I have been jonesing for one since a friend I was in a band with had one ~15 years ago. Finally got it. The clean channel on my Marshall is still trying to get up the courage to have a Rape kit done. If Pantera hadn't already done it, this thing would have made me make Cowboys from Hell!

I may combine the Detonator/John Deere demo with this pedal. I'm calling this OD3/4 on my Marshall. This thing picks up where the amp leaves off and goes to infinity. This thing is EVIL. I love it!!!!!

Bonus - just noticed one of the things I loved about this: ACTIVE tone controls for bass/mid/treble!

Re: NPD: What to do with a Sam Ash gift card?

At high amp volumes, that thing squeals like a pig. Just something to be aware of. I'm talking playing in a band setting levels. Gets some crushing tones though.

Re: NPD: What to do with a Sam Ash gift card?

I should get one of those just for home use. Seems like the price/tone ratio can't be beat, especially for how little I need a super high gain tone these days. If I were playing metal with other people more I might consider something like an AMT preamp or an OKKO Diablo, but for what these go for used it's a no brainer.

Re: NPD: What to do with a Sam Ash gift card?

It sounding just BrüTuhlZ with my PG loaded Caddy.

Don't know about the squeel factor. I know I hurt my ear - in a good way kicking in the top boost, yet another reason to love.

Werd on "when you need Utra gain" I'd generally never need this. But man - so satisfying. Just truly bowel moving.

I've been wavering the past few years over the Metal Muff, Duncan Mayhem, BBE Crusher, and lately the MXR Full Bore Metal. All roughly in the same camp. At the end of the day, I have always loved the soundf of this, the active eq flexibility, and the top boost bonus.

I am deeply satisfied. The kind of satisfied that can only come from a latex clad dominatrix crushing your balls with her platform patent heels and smacking you with riding crop while telling you to play harder and faster.

the fullbore is terrible. good call on the Metal Muff.

Re: NPD: What to do with a Sam Ash gift card?

These were pretty new when I started playing and was the first dist box I ever owned. I got all my br00tal toanz from this guy through a Fender and it SLAYED. Can be noisy for sure but a noise gate takes care of that. Its a killer score for sure. Enjoy man!

Re: NPD: What to do with a Sam Ash gift card?

The pocket Metal Muff is nice too.

You know, I have heard a lot of mixed things on the various smaller versions. But I wanted both T-boost and full EQ, so those were not an option. I'd have to hear them live first...which I haven't ever done.

Full EQ is always a plus. When I bought it I was looking to get a compressed Marshall sound from a pedal and it didn't get me as close as I'd like. I can see why people give a bad review. I used it like an overdrive eventually, and it worked great. If you have the Drive all the way down, can you turn it up just a little before it really kicks in? That's what I would do the pocket version. Then with the switch you toggle between different Marshall type tones. Early plexi to jcm800. Worked really well that way. Played it into an old silvertone for my dirt sound. Surprised the **** out of a lot uppity players.

Bwahahahahahahah!!!! EXCELLENT! I love flickin' boogers at tone snobs.

But the active three bands? oh yeah. I can sus all kind of goodness/evil out of it.

I have always said there is a time and a place for EVERY dirt box. Just because YOU don't know where that is, doesn't mean it doesn't exist.

Re: NPD: What to do with a Sam Ash gift card?

The whole "there is a time and place" thing is something I've been finding true lately. For example, the Boss metalzone gets all sorts of hate, but that's what the guys from cannibal corpse use to the most nastiness out of their Mesa Triple Rectifiers.
