New ukulele kit day. For our first anniversary my wife got me (among other things) a cheap ukulele kit (this one) for me to get started a little bit into making my own guitars etc. It is a nice way to start. Of course the quality is not the best, but that way I cannot mess up too much. The best thing about it is I spoke with her about guitar building and kits to start with etc. and she totally surprised me with this one.
It is basswood, all I really have to do is attach the neck, fretboard, bridge, nut and other hardware. The neck joint is the worst type I've ever seen, but hey, you've got to start somewhere. I thought about replacing it and modifying it a little bit, but figured it was not really worth the trouble and I would just focus on learning how to make the action right, get the neck angle ok, getting the nut height right etc. Maybe I'll add a little rosette or something for the fun of it
