Obsidian vs Mojotone Solderless Les Paul Harness

Re: Obsidian vs Mojotone Solderless Les Paul Harness

I have used Obsidianwire and I've used the Mad Hatter Terminator systems. I REALLY like the ObsidianWire kits.

Re: Obsidian vs Mojotone Solderless Les Paul Harness

Obsidianwire:

Pros:

1. Drop in full circuit.

2. Switch can be replaced by soldering in new leads if/when it wears out without having to replace the whole circuit.

3. Well designed and great sounding circuits.

4. Fast pickup swaps.

Cons:

1. Les Paul, Strat, or Tele. Anything else, and you're out of luck.

2. Can't replace the pots alone if you needed to, or the caps.

Mad Hatter:

Pros:

1. Wide variety of circuit types for most applications.

2. Kit comes with different caps, and you can also change the pot values. Nice if you like to tinker.

3. Quality parts and sounds good.

4. Quick pickup changes.

Cons:

1. Terminators for the pickups are on the switch. That's the part that wears out the soonest. When it does, you have to get a new one from Mad Hatter.

2. Connecting everything up doesn't take any more time than soldering things together with a diagram.

I have the SSS blender circuit for Strat from Obsidianwire. I plan to get the SSH one for my next Strat build. I kind of like these kits when I'm fully replacing a circuit or for a new build. If I'm just changing one component or pickups, then I just solder.
