OD pedal questions

I need an overdrive that, along with provinding gain, provides a noticeble volume inrcrease when playing through a dirty amp at Maiden levels of gain. I know that's kind of hard to pull off at this gain level, but I'm trying to get around having to buy an additional pedal (an EQ or clean boost).

My budget is under $160, which is why I'm not jumping at the tube screamers the Maiden guys usually use (though I may go used if it's the best option). Ideally I'd like it to be true bypass, but I'm not gonna cringe about it.

I used to have a bad monkey, but didn't like the tonal controls or bypass.

Re: OD pedal questions

I've got the exact perfect pedal you're looking for. I'm almost hesitant to sell it because it's a $280 pedal in mint unused condition (just missing the box). The T Rex Moller. Send me $160, and I'll 2 day Fedex it to you.

It's got a fully tweakable better version of a tube screamer on one switch. The other switch is pure clean boost, which will give your amp a kick up in volume no matter what gain level it's at. The best part is that you can combine them for an even hotter gain setting. It's a really versatile pedal. I just have too many OD pedals, so I'll sell it for what I paid.

If anyone here is interested, PM me. Not trying to derail your thread, because this is the type of pedal that would suit your situation.

Re: OD pedal questions

If you amp is cranked and your master is not on FULL then no pedal is going to give you gain AND volume boosts...the master volume is keeping the overall volume in one place and that's the issue.

The best thing for you to do is to put an OD pedal upfront for more grind and a clean boost in the loop for more volume.

If you have to have it all in one and all up front you need a pedal with a LOAD of volume on tap and even thin if thte map is really pushed and the master is low it still won't give you much if any volume boost...

Re: OD pedal questions

I use a Timmy for what you're looking for. It's fantastic. Although you need to heed the advice in the above post.
