So, I have this old Tele (actually a Washburn "Chicago Custom Shop" Tele copy) that came stock w/the Duncan Broadcaster bridge pickup. I checked the DC resistance, & it comes out at 8.2k ohms. It always seemed hot to me, and I checked it years ago and it was high, but I was measuring at the output jack & thought the extra resistance was probably switch, pots, etc. Well, I've really liked the p'up for a long time, but just pulled it out to try something a little different. Now, I'm measuring straight off its wires and still get 8.2k(8.17 to be exact). A pro winder told me that this is not uncommon, and in the business it's called a "coffee break wind". I don't even see a Tele bridge on Duncan's site at 8.2k. Have any of you experienced this?
