Odd overwound STL-1B (Duncan Tele) ?

So, I have this old Tele (actually a Washburn "Chicago Custom Shop" Tele copy) that came stock w/the Duncan Broadcaster bridge pickup. I checked the DC resistance, & it comes out at 8.2k ohms. It always seemed hot to me, and I checked it years ago and it was high, but I was measuring at the output jack & thought the extra resistance was probably switch, pots, etc. Well, I've really liked the p'up for a long time, but just pulled it out to try something a little different. Now, I'm measuring straight off its wires and still get 8.2k(8.17 to be exact). A pro winder told me that this is not uncommon, and in the business it's called a "coffee break wind". I don't even see a Tele bridge on Duncan's site at 8.2k. Have any of you experienced this?

Between Duncan's output specs being "averages", as well as everyone's multimeter reading slightly different, 8.2K is not THAT far off from the stock 7.8K.

If yours was 10K, then yeah, that's a different story.

Yeh thats +5%, this is within the tolerance of the wire +/- 5%. BTW the wind is not hotter or overwound or something. It the same number of winding, just the wire a little thinner than spec'd on the spool.

I thought the 1B was nominally 7.6K. If that's right, it puts mine about 8% higher. Yes, not a huge amount, but a much bigger variance than I typically see from published values. And, I use the same DMM on several other pickups that come in very close to mfg specs.

I'd just consider yourself lucky that you got a hot one!!!

If you don't like it, I'd be glad to trade you for my "stock spec" one!

Naww, I don't feel unlucky...just wondered how common this was. It's been in that guitar for a good ten years & I've gotten along well with it--and that's from a guy who usually can't stand bridge singles. It works really well w/overdrive, but I'm getting more into clean sounds with it and want a softer attack. I'm thinking something A2. I even thought of slightly degaussing it, but can't bring myself to messing with a good one.

I was a little concerned that if I sold it the buyer may say, 'hey man, this isn't a Vintage Broadcaster. What r u tryin' to pull?'. Based on the responses here, it doesn't sound like many folks would be bothered by it.
