Odie's Oil ?

I got a flyer from Woodcraft the other day and it had this stuff listed in it. Looked it up on line. Looks like it could be pretty good stuff. Any body here have any experience with it? I am planing on using nitro on the body, neck heal, and peg head of my current build with some sort of oil, wax, or oil and wax finish on the back of the neck shaft. So I am looking at different options, and how they mite react with the nitro. :scratchch

No experience with that, but considering it is completely solvent free, I would assume that it would have no effect on cured lacquer.

However, a lot of the solvents in lacquer can also be used as degreasers (ie oils can dissolve in them), so it's hard to say for sure.

Your best bet would be to try and keep the two from overlapping, as that's where you could expect to see a reaction (if that's even possible).

FWIW, on the bass I'm refinishing right now, I'm using lacquer on the front face of the neck and I'll be using danish oil on the back - it's different from odie's in that it does contain solvents which evaporate off as it dries/hardens. There shouldn't be any overlap, but I'm using painter's tape to mask off and isolate the different surfaces from each other. That helps prevent the differenct finishes from overlapping.

I would tape sections off as I work on others. It really is better to be safe than sorry.

Wow...Jolly I see your switchin up your avatar...Gettin funk with it! LOL. Thank for the feed back guys. In the past I've used Johnson's past wax on my Strat with great success. If I give Odie's a try I'll do a test first to see how it feels and if it reacts.
