Of all places, I never posted this here, overhauled Les Paul content...

I'm not sure why I never put this on the SD forums since I went with SD pickups.

It's a '91 Standard, my first "good" guitar that I bought in the mid-to-late 90's cheap. It was in need of new tuning machines and I was never really into the double blacks, so I decided to do a complete overhaul with Historic parts. I still need the knob pointers but I haven't decided if I actually want them yet. Here's what I replaced;

- Tonepros Kluson Tuners
- Historic Truss Rod Cover
- Historic Pickup Rings
- Historic P-90 Pickgaurd, cut to fit
- Double Creme Seymour Duncan '59 Neck/JB Bridge
- RS Guitarworks Vintage Style Pots/Caps
- Top Hat Style Knobs
- Tonepros ABR-1 Style Bridge
- Brown's Guitar Nashville to ABR-1 Conversion Posts
- Tonepros Lightweight Aluminium Tailpiece

I know they aren't the best pictures, I've been to lazy to take more but what's everyone think?

Re: Of all places, I never posted this here, overhauled Les Paul content...

looks awesome. i like it a lot

Re: Of all places, I never posted this here, overhauled Les Paul content...

I love black LP's too -- as long as they're Customs. Cream and nickel or chrome just don't work with black to me.

Re: Of all places, I never posted this here, overhauled Les Paul content...

nice! i just had an opportunity to trade my epi les paul, for a custom epi.

i took mine apart to clean it up to sell it, and discovered it was my first guitar too, couldnt sell it after that...

Personally, I like the look of the double blacks-

But it's a beautiful guitar either way.

If'n it were me, I'd have only changed out the TRC and the knobs and been happy.

Re: Of all places, I never posted this here, overhauled Les Paul content...

Looks classier now IMO.

Re: Of all places, I never posted this here, overhauled Les Paul content...

I have a Black (? Ebony) LP Custom and while I do like the gold look, yours looks great with the creme!

Actually, I think the Arctic White looks rather cool. You need to swap out the selector switch ring, though.

I've got an Ebony '94 LP Standard -- looks just like yours in the "Before" pic, except that I replaced the speed knobs with top hats like yours.

Very nice! I should know, as I have exactly the same looking guitar as your first picture except mine has covered pickups and a different name on the headstock.

I've actually been looking around for a good picture of a similar guitar with uncovered pickups to see what it looks like. That's perfect. Cheers!

Very cool. Leave it to a brother to know his s%*#* about how to fix up an axe.

Yep, along with the knob pointers I still need to change the toggle switch ring. Do you happen to know where I can get one that isn't aged? The few I've seen from people here in the US are aged and really wouldn't fit the rest of the guitar at this point.

Barring Wine Red, what you have above is my absolute FAVE look for a Les Paul Standard, and how I had my 91/92 (can't remember, lol) looking (double creams, though I had gold speeds) GORGEOUS!

Re: Of all places, I never posted this here, overhauled Les Paul content...

I'm not knocking it, really. Hey, it's a real Les Paul, cream/black or not, how bad can it be? It's still very cool. But if it was mine, I'd try to Custom-ize it with black plastic and gold hardware. (Might even try something crazy like zebra pu's with true-white slug bobbins instead of cream.)

Re: Of all places, I never posted this here, overhauled Les Paul content...

sweeet! love the double creams tho I'm a zebra fan myself.
