OFR wiggly arms!

As a fix for the wiggly arm on an OFR, has any one tried using an arm assembly from a Gotoh?

Re: OFR wiggly arms!

Floyd now offers a push in style arm (like the gotoh) that fits the OFR.

The only wiggly horribly loose bars I ever encountered on Floyds were the ones that come with the cheaper Korean made Floyd Rose special trems. The German made modern collar style don't wiggle at all, at least none that I've ever had, and I've had more than I can remember over the years.

cut off about 1/4 to 1/2 inch length of humbucker mounting spring
drop it in the sleeve
screw in tremolo arm

Re: OFR wiggly arms!

I've been using an arm assembly on my 1983 OFR for a few years that came off of an early to middle 90s OFR. I like that it comes off easy but have never liked the wiggle. I have dealt with it loosening up by using plumbers tape and the squeak by waxing the end that gos in the holder, but the wiggle is not good. I stopped using the original arm assembly because it was a pain to re-tighten when it loosened up. I like my arm to "just" stay were I put it.

That's it, I know what I'm getting for my Edge type bridges, and my soon to be fitted OFR when I have some spare cash. I love the Gotoh desgin, so glad there's a similar option that can be retro-fitted to other bridges now.
