Oh my Gourd.,I just bought a Fender Hwy 1 body

It looked good to me , cause I was lookin' for a very light Alder body, and thos was considerably under 4 pounds. They were asking 249.00 with 19 dollars shipping, or Best offer.
So on a lark I threw out 200.00 as my best offer and Ziiiiiiiiing, I got it>
I really hadn't expected to, nor should I be buying nothing now, but hey, thats why they make credit cards , what?
I can get close to 1/2 of the money back from the Relic Jimmy Vaughan body Dismantling and selling and putting all the parts of it on this body.
So can anyone tell me..I know these Hwy 1 bodies can be buffed out, but can I put Wipe on Poly over the Nitro finish?
I'm gonna have one bad ass lightweight '63 L series Sunburst replica!;

Hey Big T. Here it is. I'll have a weight (and I do have more pics) after I disassemble the guitar, however I believe it hovers around 5 pounds.;

Good lord. You can buy a new body for about $150 and not have to do any removing of old finishes.

Fender doesn't do anything special to their bodies except overcharge for them.

My parts telecaster used a Hwy 1 body I got off eBay. I think I only paid $150 for it.

Why would you want to put poly over the nitro? Just enjoy the thin finish.

Once a finish is fully cured, you can overcoat with any other finish, provided you give it a thorough scuff sanding with 320 grit paper. The question is: why would you want to?
