Oh...Oh... I may have made a mistake when I ordered

I'm putting in a new CTS wiring harness in my Les Paul. I got the thing in the guitar but I just noticed that the shafts are pretty long. The knobs would be sticking way up in the air.

So do I have to send it back and get the short shaft kind...

Or can I make this work somehow?

Like install some nuts on the inside to make to make the pots not sit so close to the wood?

The assembly came with a two nuts and a washer on each pot. One nut was at the bottom of the shaft almost as if it was meant to stay there perhaps?

Looks like you could use the bottom nut to set the height and the top nut to secure it.

Yes you should use the 2nd nut to set the height

Not all of them require long shaft pots.

Iirc, I read that all carved tops from ‘77 to present use them.
But now that you mention it, possibly the historic series may not as well as non carved tops (LP Special etc).
I’m not sure which the OP has.
