I'm looking at getting some Celestion V30s. I don't know how to make a decision about the 8 vs 16 ohm rating. Could someone clue me in to the differences? Thanks.
O.K. then. if you have your typical 4,8,16 ohm selector? you have some options. Going into a 2x12 You will have to order 2 of the same ohm speakers.
That is 2 - 16's or 2-8's But NOT! 1-16 & 1-8. Once you have two matching speakers it comes down to how you wire it? Series or Parallel? Series Adds, Parallel divides. 2-16's in parallel = 8 ohms. 2-8's in series =16 ohms. You can do the rest of the math.
I'm using it for a guitar amp. I play most metal and I play 7 and 6 string, no radical down tuning. I'm wondering if the tone is different or the volume is different or what. I'm obviously ignorant. I've heard of the terms series and paralell but have no clue what they mean.
I've got 2-8 ohm speakers wired in parallel in my 2X12 running a total of 4 ohm resistance. I had it wired that way since at the time I bought it I was only using a 30 watt amp and wanted to minimize resistance on the amp.
