I have a old Baldwin 2x12 combo, it has 2 four ohm(yes 4) speakers wired in parrallel! I was surprised to see that. Anyhow, I want to put in a couple of g1230 celestions. They are 16 ohms, thats gonna give me 8....what can I expect? Lower volume? Blown Tranny? I dont want to change it if Im looking at problems. Thanks...Oh yeah its a solid state amp, not tube.

youll lose power, quite a bit of power probably. going from 2 ohms to 8 is quite a jump but it shouldnt hurt your amp

A two ohm cab with crap speakers = crap. I'd change to Celestion, but make sure the amp can accomodate an 8 ohm load. It'll sound night and day better.
If you can't change the ohms on the amp, use 2 8ohm speakers instead, since 4ohms is closer to 2.
