Old Boss pedals..tonesuckers.....etc etc

Re: Old Boss pedals..tonesuckers.....etc etc

woah! I like seeing the CE-2 in there.

I tend to favor analogue boss pedals though.

Re: Old Boss pedals..tonesuckers.....etc etc

I can't use Boss pedals before my amps input.
(unless they are on all the time, which is never)

Eh?
Who cares about that, it is how they blend in when used. :D

Good for you;)

approximately 5.56 percent of my board is boss(9 of 5:))
Hehe yeah...

Anyways.....just another row of pedals...it is fun to line different ones up, and fool around with those.

Re: Old Boss pedals..tonesuckers.....etc etc

Boss pedals work and sound fine. All you gotta do is learn how to set them, and to adjust your amp for any loss of highs.

Re: Old Boss pedals..tonesuckers.....etc etc

I don't only hear any loss of highs with bypassed Boss pedals. I hear a loss of articulation, shine and life from my tone. Like I said, they sound nice and some sound great, it's when they are off that things go south.
I recently got rid of my MIJ black label silver screw long dash CE-2 and I'm currently working on moving my OD-2 Turbo Overdrive.
I would use one of their delays and reverb in my loop though.

Man you guys really are lost on humour eh???
Buffers do not take away highs....just the opposite, they keep them.
The only they actually lack, is just wee more power than those measly 9v they get.....
Not much juice to the parts...
Here on my various amps and such, they loose a slight amount of signal if the chain contains more than 6 pedals...buffered it is a slight thing, when mixing up with TB pedals it gets alot worse.....and stuff with different impedance, it gets all whacked up....

With anything electronic in any active or passive way, they is always change, nothing to do but live with it, no voodoo or juujuu can dispell that....and pedals are not made for loops, that is just another thing that changes stuff.

All my pedals are old, and need 12v to work right, allthough they are regulated for 9v internally, but below 12v they mess up in anyway.

My DD-5 also gets 12v just for good measure(it can handle it though)

9v is just too little....the only thing I'll do someday is to let them have the 12v if the parts can deal with it(most can, as they usually work up to 25v)

Not lost here! Jeez, people line up 10 TB pedals and 30' of cable then say that if they put a buffered pedal in there it will mess up their tone :banghead:

There is a fix for the old Boss pedals to run on 9V, had to do it to my old SD-1 (which is now very modded, probably should have left it alone and got a MIT for experiments). There is a voltage dropping diode in the old ones that you can remove for 9V use, may be a resistor too, don't remember off the top of my head.

Re: Old Boss pedals..tonesuckers.....etc etc

Yeah....but I am planning on doing something else instead, so that I can keep using my regulated 9/12v powersupply :)
A little doubler circuit.....
Then the stuff can operate at a more normal voltage, and get some more headroom.

Re: Old Boss pedals..tonesuckers.....etc etc

Strangely enough, if you daisy chain the old Boss pedals, they will usually run off of a 9V supply. But yeah, more is better, to a point.
