By old I mean 90's or 80's era. Let me explain...
I'm an Ibanez player thru and thru, but many of my jam buddies love their Charvels, and I see a lot of love in this forum. I hanker after one good true strat shape alder body floyd equipped axe, and thats not really an ibanez thing. I put an alder body parts-0-caster together a while back, but it was not a winner...its become the guitar I'm learning slide on, which tells you something about the action
Now a bit of history : I owned a Japanese model 1 way back in the day when they were the great new thing and honestly never gelled with it. Sorry if you love these but for me ibanez own the whole basswood genre. However the alder body super strat is the Jackson/Charvel backyard, but when I research that world its hard to work out what was good in each era - and I want to buy old - I get a lot more satisfaction taking an old axe and restoring it than just buying todays model.
So I guess the question is - which are the classic alder jackson/charvel models, and are the modern pro-mods better?
