Well I finally managed to get my Kramer Pacer back together. Its hasn't been played in about 10 years and I have been chomping at the bit to get it going for the last 1.5 years (waiting to get it painted). Sorry about the big pics...
Some highlight and lowlights of the history of the guitar;
- I am the original owner. I bought it in 1985 with student loan in Edmonton at (I think) Axe Music. It was the neck that really got me about the guitar. Slightly different than the other Pacers that I played at the time. "D" series guitar.
- played in a few bar bands and then all original bands over the next 10 years
- neck was cracked during a flight home while in grad school (1993). Patched up and still holds to this day.
- everything was rusted up and busted on it around 1995. I started to repair it but started to play my strat and tele more so it sat on the stand.
- didn't play too much up till 2010 (family/work) and then got the bug to play. I decided then to try to get it going again.
- thought it would be cool if a local artist would do a design on it. Sanded it down, primed it and gave it to him. I waited a year and half to get it back. For clearcoating I went with a nitro and unfortunately it messed up the paint.
- went with blue then and poly'ed the body. I really just wanted to play the darn thing again, I didn't care what it looked like.
Final specs -
1) new German Floyd with R5 nut (wiiiiiiddddddeee 1.75" nut with fairly thin neck). KGC big brass block underneath.
2) SD Triple shot rings with Prail pick ups. Makes the guitar very vesatile IMHO
3) 2 volume knobs - CRL 500K. Not sure what I will with the other hole. Not really a tone control guy
4) Neck took a few shims to set it correctly. I can proudly say that it has a true road worn look to it.
Plays really really nice - big growly sound with humbucker and/or P90. Felt like seeing an old friend again - really natural to play the Floyd (I haven't played one in years) and the neck felt awesome. Its stayed in tune really well too. I thought that there may be a break in period. But pretty much right off the bat it was staying in tune.
You can see the other pics here is you are interested;
