Old track, new mix - progressive black metal

The Drama Dude
Sometimes, when I'm bored, I like to spend hours and hours and hours re-mixing old songs that I wasn't happy with when I initially decided to be finished with them.

Worked a bit on this over the past few days while taking breaks from studying:

OLD mix:

NEW mix:
Tried to get everything clearer sounding. Wanted more bite and articulation in the guitars, bass, kick drums, and more space in the vocals. Also changed the snare and gave it a bit more breathing room. Also tried to make the whole mix more cohesive without random instruments or parts of the drumkit sticking out like a sore thumb.

lend me your ears!
(ie critiques...did I succeed in doing what I wanted to do?)

My son said I'm too old for this but I love your mix. I was always a rocker ever since, call me crazy but listening to it relaxes me.

So, listening to it, enjoying it.. looked over at my girlfriend at her desk and said "this is one of the guys on the guitar forum. Sounds exactly like something I would listen to." Her response:

"I thought it *was* something you would normally listen to."

You win.
