Olde Crusty Jensen P15N, recone or not??

Greetings again~ I just picked up a 50's Magnatone Model 150 amp. Luckily I have a pro-tech to get out the multiple 70+ yr old bugs,, BUT the speaker is the original Blue Jensen P15N, which is regrettably toast. My speaker guy would typically get around 90-
100$ for a recone. Never owning a 15" amp, I'm a little lost. Should I recone it, or is there something more current, not a small fortune, that might be 'better' speaker? I'm leaning towards the recone as nothing beats an old original & working Jensen. If i do, trying to stay true to the Jensen's should I get it ribbed or un, & what about doping, which i usually avoid. 8 ohms.

Thanks in advance~ॐ

id get it reconed. if it is done well, there wont be anything modern that is better, just different. cone choice is a preference thing and will very much influence tone. id get a bit of dope, but not too much.

Is the coil rubbing or locked up? Or is the paper cone deteriorated?
If the cone is tore strips of toilet paper and white glue will fix that. And even a weakened spider can be fixed with a couple thin coats of laquer.
I say this cause allot of those old cones are nolonger made and repros dont sound the same.
While no expert Ive fixed a couple old cones.
