older '59

I just purchased an older SD '59 bridge pickup. I know that most pickups have color-coded wires that are easy to identify when installing them into guitars. I'm putting it into a semi-hollow Oscar Schmidt guitar. When I got the pickup In noticed that it only has one wire. i'm hoping that maybe someone can shed some light on my question of how to install it, because usually there are three wires in guitars that connect to the pickup. One for volume, tone, and ?. If anyone has any suggestions/answers they would be well appreciated. Thanks

Hey Paul; Welcome to the forum. The wires that come out of a pickup have nothing to do with volume and tone. They're just to there to give you access to the individual coils, for more options. What you have is a co-axial cable - with the "hot" lead inside the negative lead, or shield.

You can use a variation of this schematic:

Just use whichever part of it applies to your situation. If you need more help, just ask. Thats what we're here for. That pup should sound great in an OS. :)

Artie's the top dog for wireing around here, so feel honored to have his assistance, and like he said we're here to help.
