Omega - tell me more about it

Hi,

I want to replace the nazgul in my mayones duvell (6 tuned to drop C) for something that is still aggressive but more controled. I hear omega is like pegasus but with ceramic magnet and a couple more winds.

I think it sounded pretty cool in the demos the guy with a PRS (lol) did.

Can anyone compare omega to nazgul? Is it really that that scooped as the chart claims it to be?

I have Alpha/Omega sets in both of my recording and live guitars. The chart only makes it looked super scooped because of how much treble content it has. It's slightly scooped, yes, but that leads to it being a much clearer pickup than the Nazgul overall. The scoop actually makes it a lot easier to dial in the midrange on your amp compared to the Nazgul. It's also a little less compressed than the Nazgul overall, and while it still has a snarl to it like the Nazgul does, it's one that tends to fit in a mix far better, at least in my opinion. It is NOT just a ceramic Pegasus. The Pegasus is muddy as all hell on palm mutes and sounds rather weak, neither of which I can say about the Omega.

I have heard of quite a few people on other forums who switched from the Nazgul to the Omega and loved it. To me, it doesn't sound as scooped as the chart leads you to believe.

From what I've played the nazgul is a bit thicker sounding and great for chugging and thick chords but the individual note definition isn't as good as the omega.
Depends what type of metal you play
