This one belongs to a student player. Her teacher gave me a call and said the bass had an intonation issue. Oh, brother - did it!
Truss rod not too bad, easy adjustment. Action at both ends was high. Lowered the bridge, but no individual adjustments on the saddles. The A and D saddles were out of order. I pulled the C-clips at the back of the (BT-4) bridge to switch them out. Note the "anti-dive" screw at the front of the bridge. Someone really put the power to it, and bent it. I removed it, and gently bent it back. Below the screw is a spud in the body to prevent tearing up the wood. The G string was super high at the nut. Had to cut the slot down at least .050. D string almost as high. A and E needed some filing, but it all worked out. Now it plays great and comes into intonation.
Pickups are wired out of phase. Unique sound - not like a Fender, almost like a Rick. Nice vintage bass.
