Onboard distortion

Re: Onboard distortion

Has anyone used the dragon fire or crack potz onboard distortion any thoughts

Do you have a link to either of them? Dragon Fire is more than likely a rebranded Artec since they make their pickups.

Re: Onboard distortion

yeah... "useless" tone knob... uh-huh, you're totally selling me on it...

no, you're right... it is WAY LESS of a pain in the ass to heat up my soldering iron, ruin the value of my stock original instrument and install a wad of duct tape inside my guitar, than it is to plug a cable into a pedal and strum 3 chords and decide if I like it.

besides, EVERYBODY knows that distortion, fuzz, and overdrive pedals sound WAYYY better BEFORE your wah pedal and your tuner! So you might as well send as MUCH DIRT AS POSSIBLE to them.

I hate this idea so much that I actually ran out of sarcastic things to say about it.

Re: Onboard distortion

Some of their other effects seems cool, especially for a bass player. Having a bass with an onboard compressor or fuzz or boost would be quite handy. For guitar players not so much, it's better to just get a distortion pedal and not lose your tone knob.

Re: Onboard distortion

Some fuzz pedals do work better in front of a wah.
Other than that I feel the same way

Not to derail I always keep my gain before my wah. Onboard distortion, i'll pass. It reminds of those guitars in the 70's with 12 onboard effects and not one useable sound.
