Onboard reverb works when not using effects loop

Good day,

I'm having a strange issue with my Fillmore 25. Whenever I am using the effects loop, my spring reverb quits working. Whenever, I'm not using it, it works again. Not only that, the signal being sent to the front gets a lot more broken-up/overdriven.

I tested the weird overdrive with the clean channel.

Can a bad reverb tube (or tubes, they're two in this amp) cause this?

I had the "send" cable plugged into the return and the "return" cable plugged into the spring reverb footswitch.

I guess I was more tired last night when I hooked it up than I thought lol
