One last delay question... Hopefully

Ok It's down to my Delay pedal to have my board "complete"

I was thinking Line6 DL4 or Boss DD20, but I'm starting to think the more simplistic the better.

So what is a good, but simple delay pedal?

True Bypass is preferred.
Tap Tempo would be nice, but I am no longer calling it a necessity.

The other pedals on my board at the moment are
Crybaby Classic > Fulltone FD2 > Voodoo Lab Tremolo (got it today!) > Phase 90 (will be replaced w/ a dif phase soon. Open to recommendations!)
A Chorus may be added later.
Not sure if I will put the delay in the FX loop or front of amp so one that works well in both positions as well.

Re: One last delay question... Hopefully

personally, I would go with the DL4, as the true bypass option can be turned on and off . . . . ive heard that with it off gives it a very very desirable delay trail when the effect is turned off. Also, I find Line6's delays sound a bit more organic than boss's stuff.

Re: One last delay question... Hopefully

I loves my Rocktron Short Timer. They are dirt cheap (<$50 used), but sound great. They are not true bypass, but who cares, they sound great. No tap-tempo, but you'll pay a lot more for a pedal with tap.

The Rocktron is just a basic echo that sounds good for low bucks.

Re: One last delay question... Hopefully

I've looked at the Short Timers and they are on my radar. Wanna get rid of that one you just took off your board? :)

Re: One last delay question... Hopefully

Maybe this will help: Search "Rocktron Short" on eBay. There are 2 used ones on there right now. If you don't want to wait, there are new ones for $59.95 plus $8 shipping.

Re: One last delay question... Hopefully

I'd just go for a Line6 DL4 or the Echo Park is nice for less money. Still has tap tempo as well and lots of options. Best bang for the buck around.

Really I think you'll miss tap tempo way more than true bypass myself. Trying to sync up a delay line twisting a knob just is so much harder than being able to quickly tap the beat in. Depends on your overall needs but once you've used tap tempo its hard to do without it

Re: One last delay question... Hopefully

I'm a fan of the Line 6 sound, Echo Park can be TB or trail off, tap tempo and it's got all the sounds of the DL4. (No looping obviously) THe Ibanex AD9 is analog and sounds good in front of the amp. (Are you using amp distortion or pedal distortion?) I've heard good things about the DE7.

Overall, I think the DD20 and DL4 are the most "complete" solutions.

Re: One last delay question... Hopefully

I'm mainly using my Amp distortion. The Fulltone stays on all the time, and I use the boost for some added bite.
