One of my latest builds

Re: One of my latest builds

Thanks Jeff.

It took me nearly a month to mix just the right orange that I had in my head. Gretsch has a couple different oranges. I almost decided to mix their darker orange (very beautiful) but it looked a bit too heavy for a small bodied LP.

I know exactly which darker orange you're talking about and it is beautiful, but I'm with you on the color you chose. The tummy cut looks exactly like the one's on my USA Dean Hardtail's, which makes them very comfortable to play. I can just imagine how beautiful that guitar sounds.

Re: One of my latest builds

Orange is a hard color for me...but I like it on this guitar. It is a little deeper and darker than you normally see it. Awesome job!

Thanks, Dave.

Tonight (or tomorrow morning) I'll post pics of my last two guitars. The last one I made (just finished last weekend) will definitely trick ChAoZ. That's the one I ended up putting the gold foils in. They sound terrific in that guitar.

Not tricked, just don't understand putting a logo of a big corporate on something you've obviously spent so much time and talent on

Re: One of my latest builds

I plan on coming up with a design for a custom logo. I even have a couple friends working on it. Until then, I quite enjoy teasing/tricking/fooling everyone.

He didn't build the neck himself. Am I correct Doc?

Re: One of my latest builds

Ah, ok let me clarify that statement. I wanted to let you know that I didn't just buy a Gibson pre-finished neck and just slap it on there.

But at this point it also doesn't make much sense for me to try to inlay the frets in the fretboard. I'd like to find a source to buy good quality unfitted, unfinished fretboards with the frets already installed. Until I do, I buy unfinished necks either 25.5" or 24.75" with blank headstocks. I shape the necks to my design for that specific guitar and I design and cut the headstock and finish to match whatever guitar I'm building. I have done some headstocks that are exact copies of Gibson LP, Fender Tele, Fender Am. Strat with the small head, and Fender large Strat paddle heads. Generally the head design is also my own creation. Everything else began as slabs of wood. (I also buy pre-made pups and hardware).

Hope this helps. I didn't mean to purposely mislead you.
