So I was messing around with the magnets in my pickup and I complete separated the base from the rest of the pickup. The two black wires coming from the coil broke. So to fix it I did a really ghetto repair. I duck taped one wire to the base plate of the pickup and other to the ground, this just a guess because it originally had a rubber tube surrounding it and if I touched it to the base plate the pickup would die.
I was wondering if this was the correct way to do all the connection; excluding the ghetto repair. Also if I switch the positions of the black wires does that reverse the polarity of the pickup right? I was trying to use that in combination with magnet flipping to get hum canceling in the middle position, but I couldn't get the right combo to keep them in phase. I tried get the hum canceling going on, but it did with the out of phase sound and nasally tone. Guess I should try more combinations.
