Bought a BW neck on ebay because it was 30$. It had about a 2" lead. So I replaced it. I'd never opened up a 3 magnet humbucker before. Pretty neat.

Swap the center mag with an A5 and let us know how it sounds.

Will swapping in a bigger, ceramic mag make it respond more like a bridge BW?

I'm tempted. I even thought about that when I had it open. It's already reassembled, but I still might. Im thinking it would make a good bridge pick up.

Gotcha. I don't know a ton about building pups, but I'm fascinated by it and curious to try modding, then possibly building my own. In this case, is there any way to push the neck pup to 16+?

I've never heard of anyone adding winds to each bobbin of a humbucker. It's probably technically possible, but pretty unheard of as far as I know. You might as well build your own how you like it if you were going to do all that..

Man, I love the BW-N. It's by far my favorite Duncan neck pickup. I'm sure it would make a great bridge pickup too.

Are they really 3 mags?

I'd "found" 3 mags in Distortions, Detonators, and Invader knockoffs before, but was advised that they're just black resin spacers... scratch test seemed to confirm

Ah, so essentially the only mod really plausible is just agent swapping, then correct? Cool vid, thanks for the link - can't imagine adding winds after seeing that...

Removing winds can also be done fairly easy if you have the right tools, making hybrids, and swapping screws are pretty effective mods.
