I've seen so much good stuff posted about Ibanez guitars I was wondering if you could tell me if a Ibanez RGIR20FE is a goody or a bady and what to look for and what to look out for and what you think one might be worth and....well I guess that about covers it. Thanks in advance for any help.

So most of the issues I find with the Iron Label series are, from what I have experienced personally
- sharp fret ends
- electronics don't work
- meh neck pocket gaps but you can shim that.

are you buying it new? and are you getting a good deal? I had one of those blue maple topped ones with the fancy binding it was $900 CAD new and I returned it 2 weeks later just cause I didn't find it to be worth the new price, the craftsmanship is the same as the lower end ibanez (not gio but the 350 and 420 series etc which is not worth $900 CAD or $700 USD whatever the current exchange is)

I wouldn't pay more then $500 CAD for one, or $500 usd if I was in the USA.. just my 2 cents.

I agree. I played two 8-string Ibanez RG's last week, one Iron Label and one Premium. They both sucked. The seller wanted me to try the premium, hoping that this would score better but even this was bad. The action height was huge, setup was non-existent, fret ends were sharp, especially with the Iron Label. There was buzzing even tho the string height was really high. It sounded too bad directly in a Engl (IIRC) amp. Could do anything useful with them.
OTOH When I had tried my ARZ800 (also MIC) 4 yrs ago, (the predecessor of what would be Iron Label), I was instantly sold.

IMHO one has to pay over 1000 EUR in order to get smth which will be semi-decent out of the box and require minimal fixes/setup.
