I dunno, it's a little beat but overall it looks good. Don't buy on impulse whatever you do.

Re: Opinions On Ebay Guitar Before I Pull The Trigger?

I've been thinking on this guitar for a while, so I know it's what I want, I just don't know if I want this exact one. It seems to be fairly good.

The guitar is from 87-89, so I'm not too concerned about the mint condition factor on it ;).

I'll sell you a B.C. Rich Assassin for $400 that's a hell of alot better guitar than that one.

Haha thanks for the offer, Jolly, but I've only had bad experience with BC Rich. For the hell of it, got any pics? Where was it made? Licensed or OFR?

Re: Opinions On Ebay Guitar Before I Pull The Trigger?

I never had any luck with those trems. I you pull the trigger, I would go for an original Floyd. Looks cool though. I am not sure what is a good price for one though.

Re: Opinions On Ebay Guitar Before I Pull The Trigger?

I have one of those. Great guitar. i could drop it off the top of a building and it would stay in tune. The bridge is a propriatary charvel/jackson thing. (I put a floyd on it with a D-Tuna,a nd blocked the bridge.) the fine tuners are part of the allen screw that you use to hold the string in with. It is a neck through and has AWESOME sustain. the neck really has a nice profile to it also. It has an active mid-boost which is somewhat cool. it is a good Rock/Metal guitar, when played clean it has a really smooth tone to it. I like it, but then I have one.

I was hoping you'd chime in, 54SL! What would you say about this ones price/condition, since you own one?

Also, Theodie, the OFR is a direct replacement, so I'll be replacing it when I get the cash.

I think 350 is a fair price. If you are serious I would wait till the auction is about to end and try to get it for 350. If you were going to try to get a guitar today with the same specs and quality you would pay well over 650. So you could look at it that way. I think i originally paid around 400-500 new for mine, but that was in the 80's. It is basically the same as a jackson soloist. i had to replace the volume pot on mine (I broke the post when i was messing around with it once). if you notice, it has a regular nut, and a string locking mechanism behind the nut, a little different than regular floyd locking nuts. i actually like that idea better than the floyde locking nut.
the guitar uses a 9volt battery, for the mid-cut/boost. It will give you a little extra punch for solo's. I once thought about replacing the pup, and keeping the mid boost thing in it, but there are a LOT of wires in the control cavity. I didn't feel up to the task, so I left it as-is. when I saw the auction, i actually thought about getting it myself (just in case anything ever happened to mine) but I won't I have too many irons in the fire as it is. i would have no problem recommending this guitar. I used that particular guitar when i wa going through my METALLICA phase. the neck is a fast neck, it really fits well in the pocket of my fretting hand. I never had any problems with fret buzz, even with low action. I like to use heavy 9's (9-48) or straight 10s on this guitar. No string breaking issues either. It is a great quality guitar. i wish they still made them this way (the factory fret job was awesome, no sharp edges, smoooth as silk. Those particular charvels at times had thicker finishes, but that finish didn't (blackcherry). the crackle finish charvels had the thicker finishes. hope that helps you a bit. On a side note, I think Jeff Beck had a Soloist that looked a lot like that guitar. I remember it on the cover of a guitar magazine in the 80's.

Re: Opinions On Ebay Guitar Before I Pull The Trigger?

oh, I think the condition of that one looks pretty good considering. i also think the radius of the neck is like 14 or 16. pretty flat.

Re: Opinions On Ebay Guitar Before I Pull The Trigger?

Sounds good man! Still not quite sure whether I'll get this one or not, but it looks great to me. My old guitar teacher had a Model 6 that was one HELL of a player!

I actually like the behind-the-nut locking idea, as well. I'll most likely be replacing the pickups for Duncans or DiMarzio's, but I'll keep the mid-boost system, even if it takes a lot of guesswork. Also, I really like flat necks, 15 is just about perfect for me, so with a 14 on the Schecter and a 16 on this, I'll be set!

Re: Opinions On Ebay Guitar Before I Pull The Trigger?

I hate to be a pessimist but I've always been suspicious of any bridge other than real OFRs or Ibanez Edges because I'm never had good experience with anything else. The clamp-behind-the-nut thing just makes me itch...

Nice guitar otherwise. I wonder if it's retrofittable for an OFR?

Re: Opinions On Ebay Guitar Before I Pull The Trigger?

everything looks like its in tip top shape except i'm hesistant on making any remarks on the bridge

I put an OFR on a model 4 that orginally had the same trem on it as that ax. No problem at all.

Re: Opinions On Ebay Guitar Before I Pull The Trigger?

I put an OFR on mine. the original worked well though. it is designed so you dont brush the tuner knobs with your palm when palm muting and knock it out of tune. that was a nice option.

Re: Opinions On Ebay Guitar Before I Pull The Trigger?

Put the bid on it today, the guy doesn't know how to end the auction early, but at least he's not a scammer!

Got my fingers crossed on this one...this may be the beginning of a lovely, long relationship with neck-thru Charvel/Jacksons...

Re: Opinions On Ebay Guitar Before I Pull The Trigger?

Did you get it?
