Opinions on Fernandes

Has anyone here owned one? The Revelle looks pretty smooth and there are some amazing reviews for it. I love the fact that it's solid mahogany with a JB and Fernandes Sustainer STOCK.

Any opinions?

Re: Opinions on Fernandes

I played a Ravelle a few weeks back. Seemed pretty nice. Sustainer was a cool feature, but I think I'd prefer a neck pickup in it's place. There were a few small flaws in the finish, but nothing major. It was a cool guitar.. I'm just not sure I'd pay $850 for it. If I found one used for $500 or so, then maybe I'd consider it.

Just my $0.02

The other guitarist in my band has a Raven. Is his backup guitar to his LTD Viper. The Fernandes is bolt on alder bodied with stock simple humbuckers. Is an alright solid guitar for the money. Fernandes seem alright to me, hasnt et my heart on fire but is ok.

I've played a few Fernandes'. Tried out a Monterey Elite which was REALLY nice! Cool, lighter Les Paul silhouette with a thinner neck and a stock JB. Also played an old Dragonfly Custom with EMG 89's, another very nice guitar along the same lines.

Re: Opinions on Fernandes

Can´t speak for the newer ones. But I´ve got a late 80s Fernandes Rhoads that rivals any Jackson, currently refinishing it. I´m going for Snakeskin-Armored bevels (Read: Chrome Snakeskin) and I´m wandering between "red Ghost flames on red-metallic Black", "Crimson Swirl", "heat+light reactive" (remember those Mood rings as a kid? They do that as an automotive paint as well) or metallic Blue for the rest. Although black satin could look evil, too.........

I have a friend I jam with that has one, not bad at all. I'm not sure which one it is, looks like a strat. As a neck pickup the sustainer leaves a lot to be desired, but it's pretty cool as an effect, feedback forever at any volume. I'd like to have one, it's lots of fun, but not as my main axe though.
