Opinions on Sunn Concert Lead

Hi guys, I stumbled into a '73 Sunn Concert Lead head for about 84 bucks, have any of you used one? Do you think it's a good deal?

GET IT. Its one of the amps I'd like to own and leer at.

Thats a steal. Budget money for repair. Its at the end of its service life. THis amp is very desirable for the Stoner scene. Its also the amp more or less that Slash started out on.
Back in the day when tubes were being phased out for the newest solid state technology, Conrad ( of Sunn) really had a great grasp on keeping the amps sounding really good, when most sounded horrible.

Are you kidding! Snag it. On its own merits that is a great head but at that price it would even make a serviceable backup, just to have on hand. That is one of the best sounding solid state amps of the era.

I'll try to contact the owner, it does seems like a steal. The first chann distortion doesn't seem to work, but I use a **** load of pedals and I don't use amp overdrives anyway.

Dude old Sunns are the shiz nizzle

My first real nut crusher of an amp was a Sunn Beta lead. That thing was insanely loud and sounded awesome.

Finding a good tech who knows solid state is not easy though.

Oh and I'd add my bass player has a Sunn Coliseum and it will knock the fillings out of your teeth set on 2 and has awesome big, clean, deep tone. I think Sunn are the top of the heap of vintage solid state amps.

+1 my old bass player had one sitting on top of a SVT cab, thunder.

That's the damn truth. My friend just got his Concert Bass back this week after it having been gone for six months to a year because nobody could fix it. I jammed with him last night and it sounded fuggin' great.

OP, go for it. That's a steal.

I have a Sunn Concert PA head, grinds like a mofo, and it's a faithful companion to my Model T. I would jump on it.
