Opinions Please

So I'm going to put a set of humbuckers into my 2006 MIA 60th strat. I was going to go with my Super-D in the bridge and a Paf pro in the neck but I thought I'd throw this out for some feedback. I want to use the guitar for classic/hard rock, blues/rock and possibly some old school metal here and there.

Here are my choices:

Super-D (bridge)/PAF Pro (neck)

Custom Shop Overwound 59 (bridge)/PG (Neck)

498t/496R

JS Moore custom winds A4 bridge 42 guage 8.8K/ A3 Neck 42 Gauge 7.3K

Looking for suggestions/opinions and why you think so.

Re: Opinions Please

what woods are your strat?

the Super Distortion/PAF Pro combo is excellent with the usual strat woods (Alder, Maple) and the 25.5" scale. The Super D is pretty versatile, as is the PAF Pro, and their respective outputs complement each other well. Both are pretty fat sounding, Super D is crunchy, and PAF Pro is pretty warm, can be a bit too warm sometimes, but that can be sorted out by adjusting the polepieces.

Re: Opinions Please

I'm getting good Classic Rock/Blues tones out of my modified 1995 Alder/rosewood Am Std Strat. This has Red-Gold-Blue Fender-Lace Sensors and Callaham block and saddle mods. Together, these go a long way to making switch positions 2 and 4 believable.

The bridge sensor is actually a Red/Blue Dually. My desire is to employ a DPDT switch to allow the blue half of the Dually to be combined in series with either the neck or bridge sensor for Brian May type tones.

Re: Opinions Please

Yeah my strat is your typical alder/maple. I figured it was time to turn one of them into a humbucker equipped machine and the dimarzio's were the ones that came to mind first off.
