Opinions wanted

Co-worker just gave me 2 brand new Seymour Duncan pickups, 59N, and Custom bridge however they both have nickel covers. Covers are from the factory not put on afterwards. How do you think the nickel covered pups would look on a freeway classic leaftop lightburst with maple fretboard???? The middle single coil would remain black. Thanks

Re: Opinions wanted

I think It would look very nice if the hardware was the same color, but IMO gold Always Looks better with a maple bored and a leaf color finish

If this is the guitar you're talking about, I'd take the covers off.
Odds are they're double black bobbins.
If they're zebra it would look even better, IMO.

Here is a pic. Not too bad actually.

Re: Opinions wanted

I think either would look good.

If it were my guitar, I'd probably go no covers. Don't let my opinion influence you though- It's your guitar!

Re: Opinions wanted

Keep them covered! I like the contrast of the nickel covered humbuckers to the black single coil pup. Also nickel ages well over time with a nice patina. Anyway, whatever looks and feels good to you is all that matters.

Re: Opinions wanted

yeah +1 on the leave the covers sentiment.

That looks quite snazzy, very classic kinda look, if that makes any sense, considering that h-s-h look isn't really classic at all.

Re: Opinions wanted

Thanks guys. It really is starting to grow on me. Just not the typical look. But I now have a 59 neck, and custom in the bridge. 1000 times better than the stockers. 59 has to be one of the best neck pickups.

Re: Opinions wanted

I'd keep the covers but replace the black pickup rings with some cream colored ones.

Re: Opinions wanted

Looks great as it is... I'd leave well alone. Respect to whoever gave you those awesome pick ups.
