I have a deville that goes out alot on tour and shows and whatnot and Ive sold my other head and combos besides my deville due to me moving to drums but Im playing alot more guitar now

well I want a small amp to keep in my room to play with and looking at a small small combo amp but one that sounds great

I hear great things about orange

now for 199 for a 30 watt is expensive but if it sounds really really good compared to some crate practice amp or some line 6 spider
than id rather get the orange.. on top my guitarist wants to try getting a orange head so why not pickup a practice amp at the same time

anyone play these??

I love orange but the crush is no different from any solid state you'll find out there. If you like the sound go for it, otherwise you should try a Vox Valvetronix series amp because you won't find a better sound out there.

But don't even hink of comparing the Orange head and the practice amp. Orange makes some of the BEST sounding tube amps ever (just like vox, old marshalls etc).
And some "ok - not bad" good looking made in asia (well tha doesn't mean anything anymore BTW)b cheap transistor amps.

yes i understand theier crush is a solid state..but just wondering if it still sounds better than any other crate or line 6 out there..ill try the vox as well... ijust want something small for a room.

Re: Orange crush 30.

Well if it's only for practising in you room get a vox DA5 you'll be amazed by the results.
Otherwise the crush is quite good to but i think it doesn't have a reverb.

Re: Orange crush 30.

I have tried most of the under $500 digital amp sims and settled on the Vox tonelab which i think is the brain of the valvetronix series. It has the most useable "natural" tones and is very tweakable.. you can even edit patches on your comp like the pod. I still prefer the true sound of one of my marshalls or boogie even at very low volume but for easy demo recording or searing leads at low volumes the vox is great.

I used it through the power section of my Boogie trem-o-verb at a jam a couple of months ago and it held up very well against my friends DSL but the head on it's own without the digiblab crushed him! No replacement yet for a cranked set of fire bottles.

Re: Orange crush 30.

I tried out the lower wattage crush amp. I thought it sounded really good. Very nice overdrive. Definitely not as much flexibility as a line 6 or vox; and I would think you could dial in a very similar tone with a modeller. If I got a crush, I'd get the really cheap one. The 30-watter to me doesn't seem like a good buy - it's too expensive for whatcha get, and (probably) not a loud enough 30-watter for gigs or jamming with a drummer. Might as well get their lower watter version to get the tone without the price.

Right now I'm using a Crate piece of crap practice amp with two overdrive pedals (a TS clone and a Danelectro FAB OD) and it gives me a sweet tone. I think with small practice amps, you can make due with about any one with a few pedals to mix it up. I for example have 2 sounds: medium gain and high gain. I don't need a phaser going on with a flanger that's delayed and compressed, with a simulated 4-10" speaker cabinet ya know?

wow..you guys recommend the vox? is it black and grey because i heard one and it was great..

ill try the orange anyways but if the money is better for the vox..ill settle on the vox..

i dont need it to be loud enough to play with a band..i want it for my room to mess with my pedalboard and just to play around..or even use for my keyboard and apple computer.

Re: Orange crush 30.

go for a vox valvetronix or roland cube. Both sound great, just choose the one that you like best.
