Orange Rockerverb 100W vs 20W amp

Yes folks . . . it is that time again.

I am asking this for someone else. Really :burnout:

Can a *20watt amp hang/compete with a new 100 Orange Rockerverb ?

* Deluxe Reverb/5F4/5E5/18W kit amp, and the like - all about 20Watts.

The 20W amp can be pluged into a 4X12 if need be.
No clean headroom is needed, what so ever.

Will the 100Watt Rockerverb drown the 20watt amp ?

Thans Guys
;)

Re: Orange Rockerverb 100W vs 20W amp

I think if the 20 watt is feeding big cabs and the rockerverb doesnt need to be super loud it possibly could. I had a pro junior that wasn't that loud normally but seemed to increase greatly in volume when feeding me 2x12 cab

Re: Orange Rockerverb 100W vs 20W amp

do a 2x12 or 4x12 of the loudest speakers you can find and I'm sure it'll be fine. Just don't dime the rockerverb.

Re: Orange Rockerverb 100W vs 20W amp

Any amp can compete with any other amp if you make them the same volume.

That being said,

all other things being equal, a Rockerverb 100 will erase a 20-watt amp if you want it turn it up to, say, 4.

Re: Orange Rockerverb 100W vs 20W amp

i play my 20w deluxe reverb with a very efficient speaker almost every gig.

i regularly play with people that use much bigger amps and its usually fine but if they want to play volume wars i lose very quickly. im already at the point where the amp doesnt get much louder, just dirtier where they still have lots more volume to give.

Hahahahaha, yes, that i know too . . .

. . . problem is, i think the Orange us very close to max vol.

Like i said, i am asking this for some one else, so i do not know too much about the band. I do know they are a LOUD 70's influenced Hard Rock outfit.

Good to know - thanks !

If the other dude is really letting the rockerverb rip, I think this guy needs to get above 20W.

Would he consider a super reverb or bassman kit? 40W should do a little better.

Then the guy with the 20-watter is using the wrong amp regardless of what the other guy has.

And I'll say this - I used to own a Rockerverb 100. They are

LOOOUUUUUDDD.

There is no way a 20-watt amp will even exist in that mix.

No idea . . . i will asking him tomorrow.

I like the idea of a Bassman.
They sound good cranked.

Re: Orange Rockerverb 100W vs 20W amp

I just got s Rebel 30...Haven't been able to comfortably crank it past 2 or 3 (8:00 or 9:00) yet. A 20 or 30 watt amp is LOUD!

Re: Orange Rockerverb 100W vs 20W amp

A 20w amp won't compete with a cranked up 100w amp. I've tried it before thinking it'd be cool to blend a heavily overdriven 30w with an idling 100w... once the volume on the 100w goes up all you really hear is the 100w.

Re: Orange Rockerverb 100W vs 20W amp

My Rebel 30 and my Alchemist (40 watts) most certainly WILL compete with a 100 watter. The 100 watter isn't much louder than a 40 watter, but when cranked it will be a bit cleaner.

Re: Orange Rockerverb 100W vs 20W amp

I read on one of the YouTube comment that the guy tested a Blackstar HT20 Studio, and he claims it is louder than his 100W Marshall head . . .

. . . mmmmmmmmm, OK ?

Maybe his Marshall is broken ? ...or nor plugged in ? :D

@andoo345 tried one yesterday.. maybe he means it sounds like a 50 watt. cause when i tried it (the 20watt) it sounded louder than my 100 watt marshall fully cranked. its a ****ing beast!!!!!!!
