Upon hearing some rockerverb clips at the orange forum, im unimpressed. However those Rocker 30's look and sound pretty awesome.
But If I'm looking at that, I should probably look at some Vox AC stuff too.
It's difficult to exactly categorize Orange amps other than to say they sound like Orange amps!!!![]()
Yes and no.
Older, 'vintage' Oranges sound quite different to the modern Oranges, and definitely have their own thing going on. But to my ears, modern Oranges sound less like old Oranges and more like modern Marshalls.
I personally think the company has steered in that direction on purpose: give kids a sound they recognise and a look they really like. Now, they're great amps, but they certainly have lost a lot of their original vibe. As a result, owning an Orange these days is more of a 'haircuts and trousers' decision for many users than any quest for a particularly unique sound.
You need to spend more time with modern Oranges.
I think you're off your mark. I'm not even going to bother arguing it.
just by listening to soundclips Id take an AD140 with a hotplate over the matamp...
